When you import content onto Chessable, each variation has its own title.

In the picture above, the variation's title is "Alekhine's Defense: Trampled Cavalry". When you use the PGN import tool, we can automatically formulate titles for you based on your PGN's information. By default, this comes up as "White vs. Black" or in other words, the name of whoever was playing White vs the name of whoever was playing Black.

Sometimes the title of a PGN is stored in a different field, for example just in White's name. This is why we give you the option to tell the import tool where to generate titles from.

Not to worry though - after the import, you can always go to any individual variation and change the title, so if you are not sure, just leave this field as it is and go ahead with the import!
